Hi,

Today, I want to talk about something that I’ve been thinking about for a while and that is ‘Faith’. According to the oxford dictionary faith means to have complete trust or confidence in someone or something. In Islam faith means to believe in Allah, to affirm His truth, and to submit to His commands. As a Muslim, my faith is of upmost importance to me.

These past few months of my life have really tested me. I know we all experience periods of trials and tribulations in our lives and in a way it’s those experiences that shape us. During these months, I learnt more than ever that faith in Allah swt; is needed. And during those times I was going through my battles, I was struggling with my faith which is so disheartening because you end up feeling more lost. I think reflecting back on it now, I realise that this life is a test and you will have times when you struggle with your faith and that Sabr is key.

This ayah in the Quran makes me remember that whatever trials you’re going through, this test has come from Allah swt. He is given you this test to make you stronger. “Allah intends (to provide) ease for you and does not intend (to create) hardship for you.” (2:185)

When you’re dealing with things it’s so easy to get lost in the motion and forget about your faith, something that truly makes you whole. Somehow, when you do find yourself lost you make your way back and Alhamdulilah you go through things that make you become firmer within your faith and yourself. It’s hard to remember when you’re going through things that If Allah intends good for someone, then he afflicts him with trials. (Sahih al-Bukhari).

We all want to get to a point where our faith in Allah swt is so strong that we are able to take on the tests of this world with ease, because remember Allah does not burden a soul beyond it can bear. (2:286).

Not only do you need faith in Allah swt, you need faith in yourself. Something that can be really difficult to achieve at times. But what I have realised, you need to believe in yourself, you need to push yourself, you need to love yourself. You have to do these things before you can expect others to come and do it for you. When life get tough, we give up hope in ourselves and we stop believing that we can achieve or we can’t be great. It’s so rubbish to feel like that.

You have to believe in yourself, just having a little faith in yourself will take you far. Believe that you’re great and that you can do what you want. I struggle with my confidence and believing in myself, because let’s face it we are our own enemies at times, but what I have learnt that the more I started to believe in myself the more confident I grew, don’t get me wrong I was still scared but because I developed that little bit of faith in myself; I felt brave and honestly it’s an amazing feeling.

The biggest lesson I have learnt these past few months is that,

Without faith I am lost.

Thanks for reading!
